Spoke to a 25 yr old guy today. He became a tech VP at 25 by: 1. Waking up at 5 AM 2. Cold showers 3. Meditating 4. Intermittent fasting 5. His dad owns the company

This is a shameful lie in every respect, at a time when both parties should be totally united in supporting Israel's defense. -Not a cent has been spent -They won't go to the Iranian govt -They can only be used for verifiable purchases of humanitarian needs like food & medicine

#Hamas wouldn’t hit #Israel this hard without knowing backup is coming. Enter #Hezbollah. Hms & Hzb couldn’t plan & execute an attack of this scale without state support. Enter Iran & Russia. This war helps 🇮🇷 prevent 🇮🇱-🇸🇦 normalization & 🇷🇺 divert intl focus & aid from #Ukraine

I've been fact-checking on Twitter for years, and there's always plenty of misinformation during major events. But the deluge of false posts in the last two days, many boosted via Twitter Blue, is something else. Neither fact-checkers nor Community Notes can keep up with this.

To the people celebrating the mass murder of Israeli civilians, you have lost your humanity. To the people enthusiastically calling for Israel to decimate Gaza, densely populated with 2 million Palestinian civilians, you have lost your humanity. Israelis and Palestinians are real

In the aftermath of the most horrific mass murder and mass rape of Jews since the Nazi Holocaust, many are volunteering to provide "context" for antisemitic atrocity. (Thread)

Russia is counting on the horrors in #Israel & #Gaza to distract western politicians & voters from the horrors they commit in #Ukraine. Don’t let them. Int’l resolve to support Israel & protect civilians in Gaza must strengthen, not dilute resolve & resources to support 🇺🇦

Since when did raping and murdering women, kidnapping elderly people and toddlers, lynching others become a legitimate means of opposing a government? Do you think the victims of rape "asked for it"? Feminist silence is complicity.

These are not accidental shootings while Hamas targeted Israeli military forces. They went out of their way to murder, kidnap, and rape civilians. They parade prisoners and corpses through the streets. You cannot sanitize it, no matter how much you yell whataboutisms.

I'm flabbergasted that anyone sees a parallel between Ukrainians fighting invading Russian soldiers, and Hamas smashing into Israel and slaughtering civilians. By all means criticize Israeli policy toward Gaza, but nothing justifies mass murder of kids at a dance.

My grandmother's earliest memory was being forced into an icy river to die. My mother's earliest memory was fleeing Kyiv from the Nazis. This weekend Jews were hunted and slaughtered just like in the pogroms and Holocaust. Check on your Jewish friends. They are not ok.

12. Since 1948, Israel's Arab neighbours have tried repeatedly to perpetrate another mass murder of the Jewish people. Many - as we saw in recent weeks - still try. And do so with the overt support of diaspora communities in the West, and certain progressive political factions.

This paper is special to me: it is dedicated to the memory of Rumi Ghosh, my second PhD student, who sadly passed away almost 3 years ago. The paper was her thesis work, about interactions between network structure and dynamic processes unfolding on them. academic.oup.com/comnet/article…

Before we turn more of our lives over to LLMs, we must vet their robustness. New papers from my lab shows LLMs it is surprisingly easy to ideologically manipulate LLMs.

Latest work: Modeling dynamics of opinion formation in emotionally polarized societies: arxiv.org/abs/2403.16940 Our work (with Buddhika Nettasinghe) highlights the power of out-group hate to destroy consensus and why echo chambers help protect against polarization.

Sharing my latest: In affective polarization, each partisan group dislikes and distrusts the other. Our new paper shows that AP exists on social media and also that emotional tone of interactions varies with network distance between users nature.com/articles/s4426…
