Today is the 65th anniversary of the first lasing! At Max Planck Institute of Quantum Optics one can see the very first laser that was fired by Ted Maiman on 16 May 1960. Next to it, there is his labbook with notes from that day, which gave birth to our never-ending adventures with coherent light.
