It's a sad day when funding for our pillars of culture and learning (museums and libraries) is cut. In Michigan, this impacts the inter-library loan system for the whole state as well as research databases and other learning tools that were available to every state resident.

It was the little things he did: no predatory overdraft fees, free tax filings, one click subscription cancellations, one button for live representative. It might not look cool on a t shirt or sound good as a chant but he truly did and tried to do things that help regular people

A huge factor in the collapse of our collective mental health is the decline in reading for pleasure. Reading lessens loneliness, builds community, sharpens the intellect. It brings joy. You will be shocked at how much better you feel if you begin to read regularly.

If someone works full-time and receives SNAP, that means your taxpayer dollars are subsidizing the company's profits bc it refuses to pay them a livable wage. This can only be said so many ways; it isn’t difficult to grasp.

I'm grateful everyday that my son's room was not left empty after the school shooting at his school. I think this story really brings home that these were unique kids with full lives, friends, families and rooms that they just didn't come back to after going to school one day.
