About to talk about high redshift galaxies for Tucson Space Drafts - you can watch live on YouTube: youtube.com/live/nuU-nUERx…

I’ll be giving a public lecture tomorrow about distant galaxies and JWST at Steward Observatory at 7:30 PM pacific time. Come in person, or watch online: astro.arizona.edu/outreach/publi…

BBC Sky at Night Magazine featured the discovery of JADES-GS-z14-0! I've seen a number of talks since the confirmation from other groups with bright GS-z14-0 analogue candidates. The future of high-redshift science is so exciting. skyatnightmagazine.com/news/jades-gs-…

Also featured in the article is a video interview with myself, grad student researcher Jake Helton, and Marcia and George Rieke, discussing how wild it was that we found JADES-GS-z14-0 to begin with. Thanks to the UA team that helped put this together! youtube.com/watch?v=FR7VGH…

So, JADES-GS-z14-0, has been shown (by two independent teams looking at the same data from ALMA) to be at z = 14.18! The galaxy has been confirmed to have both carbon AND oxygen emission, only 294 million years after the Big Bang.

every once in a while I remember the music video where she indicated that she was an AGN (Ariana Grande Nucleus) there is literally a part where she represents a biconic outflow, it's one of the better representations in the popular media

This is a very accessible article about the beautiful confusion, excitement, and joy created by JWST's observations of the very early universe quantamagazine.org/the-beautiful-…

I love painting people's pets. I did this last weekend as a break/reprieve from writing and editing and reading and stressing over JWST proposals

This has nothing to do with astronomy, but I enjoyed this video of Cabel Sasser doing what he does better than anyone: exploring a weirdness that others might have overlooked. Please watch to the end, it kind of actually made me choked up a bit? youtu.be/Df_K7pIsfvg?si…

If you want to find it, I recommend looking between the bright planet Venus southwest, and the star Arcturus northwest. It helps if you have a phone that can take longer exposure images, since it's somewhat faint to the eye, but generally, newer phone cameras can pick it up.

WISE was one of the most important telescopes for my early career, as data from WISE let us find hidden supermassive black holes. I've written so many papers using WISE data. All sky in the mid-IR! What a hero. Thanks, WISE. You were a good telescope.
