In any light, the Whirlpool Galaxy is a stunner. Located about 27 million light-years away, this galaxy resides in the constellation Canes Venatici. Hubble has observed it multiple times, and recently, NASA Webb Telescope joined the party too! Find out more ⬇️

Hubble's view of the galaxy, taken in visible light, highlights the spiral galaxy's gorgeous features: graceful, curving spiral arms, bright pink star-forming regions, and shining blue pockets of star clusters. nasa.gov/feature/goddar…

Webb looked at the same galaxy in near- and mid-infrared light, drawing out the web-shaped structure of the galaxy's dust. These observations were made as part of a program to find and study star-forming regions in galaxies beyond our own. esawebb.org/images/potm230…
