After a noisy night, radar is quiet now. Increasing sunshine warms us into the middle to upper 80s.Timing today's storms, most likely they pop at 2pm and linger to at 8pm. A 1/5 risk they could produce severe gusts well south of Kansas City.

94° this afternoon makes this our hottest day of 2025. That heat and humidity turns into a 40% chance for strong storms this evening, 6pm -9pm. Another, healthier round, is likely from 2am - 9am with sporadic severe gusts and heavy rain.

Flash Flooding no longer a concern. However, up to 11 inches of rain will take several more hours to even a couple of days to work through streams and rivers. Cloud cover gives way to sunshine late today with mild highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s.

Our final heat wave for July is underway now and continues through Tuesday. You can expect highs in the lower to middle 90s following mornings with lows only cooling into the middle to upper 70s. Feels like temperatures top 100° from noon to 8pm each day.

First Warn for strong to severe storms Wednesday and Thursday and 15% then 5% chance for flooding. This July is our 9th wettest. An inch or two of rain could catapult it to our 2nd wettest. August starts with highs in the middle to upper 70s!

Strong storms capable of producing wind gusts to 50 mph, dime-size hail and brief heavy rain are moving north to south across Kansas City at 35 mph. I'm not anticipating severe threats from this storm. Any flooding will be minimal.
