I remain surprised by how little attention this is getting from national media. Hundreds of millions of pounds of taxpayers' money in grave danger. Sure, things have gone seriously wrong in Thurrock but also huge questions about systemic issues that contributed to this scandal

And there's an important wider point here about the lack of interest in local councils, the pressure they are under and what that means for vital services they are under, as well as the public's access to information about all these issues

Our community garden in central Reading has always been open to all. We have suffered very little crime. But recently someone took several bags of peat-free compost. We'd love them back please as they are needed for use in our other community gardens.

With 2023 named by OSTP the “year of open science,” data sharing is at the forefront of researchers’ minds, but what does it mean for humanists? @Dylan_ruediger & Ruby MacDougall investigate whether the humanities are prepared for data sharing. sr.ithaka.org/publications/a…

Richard Layard has done more than anyone to make the case for well-being as a primary goal for public policy - but there is still a long way to go in making this the common sense it should be. ft.com/content/d84cde…

William Carruthers I am attending the National Humanities Alliance national meeting and advocacy day as president of AUPresses 📚. Every policy employer I meet wants humanities PhDs. They understand how change happens and can be made to happen, how identity is formed and how it changes, how institutions work . . .

An inspiring overview of the nation's capital as AUPresses 📚 participates in the National Humanities Alliance meeting and advocacy day at a time when academic freedom is under threat because of State legislation based on red herrings. #had23
