Really cool animation showing how much the lava in #Fagradalsfjall has grown since it started just over a month ago! #eruption From Veðurstofa Íslands / Icelandic Met Office using data from Háskóli Íslands, Landmælingar Íslands and the Icelandic Institute of Natural History

Today was another successful trip with the #Volcanology Research Group of University of Iceland to the #Geldingadalir #eruption site. At 14.15, a huge spillover broke out from the lava channel of the youngest vents. This provided a great opportunity to sample fresh lava from the area.

Very nice comparison. Now it just needs Laki Kate Gallagher or Eldgjá @volcano_will

New updates on our favourite lava from Geochemistry and Petrology Group @ Uni. Iceland! 🌋 the lava is becoming chemically enriched over time, which is best explained by melts derived from deeper in the mantle. I'm feeling very lucky to be part of this and getting to study this, the coolest of eruptions 👩🔬

Might be the best day at the volcano to date. Sun and 50m fountaning 🌋 AND then we found tephra pieces the size of my fist - what's not to like? Tadaaa! Video by Edward W. Marshall

Free workshop alert! 🚨 VMSG is organising a series on GIS for geoscientists 💻🌍 delivered by the wonderful Nicholas Barber🌋. Sessions 12-2pm every Weds in Nov. Sign up here forms.gle/zKZ8DDiWuUWQXA…. Deadline Weds 27th Oct. Thanks to Claire Harnett and Emma Watts for organising!

We Veðurstofa Íslands / Icelandic Met Office and #IStremor have been occupied today with these.. Highly regular emergent lp (>3hz) 1 minute drumbeats originated in the #Torfajökull volcanic area.. (earthquake at the bottom is from Reykjanes peninsula). #Volcanomonitoring #drumbeats
