Walnut trees, particularly the black walnut, release a chemical called juglone that inhibits other plants. Allelopathy the process that releases the chemical into soils means that you should avoid placing these nuts into your compost. #CompostWeekUK

Earthworms are a great indicator of soil health. The more you have the better the soil. Planning on buying some? Worms prefer to stay in the same location and can struggle if moved. But by improving your own soil you can attract them to your garden. #CompostWeekUK
