Okay, after coding a lot with LLMs, I can easily say that the highest dopamine hits that I have had is not when I've setup a perfect plan and gotten the LLM to complete it on first try. It's still when I have had to step in to complete a feature. They are the more memorable ones.

When I read things like this is when I realize the level of abstractions that is involved in programming and how much is taken for granted. I can't even comprehend how many levels of optimizations there could be.

Treat AI-generated code as a draft. It can write the first version, but never outsource the reading. No human review means no reliable trace from behavior back to intent. When you stop reviewing AI drafts, you stop knowing why the code works at all.

Developers are still needed guys. Just have to be better at things other than coding as well. Coding will only get you so far

I think we are producing more slop on average across all industries. Most of the things don't work as well as they used to or aren't valued enough if they do. Most of the things feel the same, and don't evoke any feelings. As a result, everything feels transactional.
