If you were to teach a great books oriented class focused on non-European and non-US thinkers concerning modern political thought, which books would you assign?

this paragraph was created in a laboratory to make me want to unalive myself. world-systems analysis definitely doesn’t offer any way out, but you know who does? FoUcAuLt

I actually don’t care that Jacobin publishes terrible articles, the problem is they not interested in publishing the debates, and thus the articles from Burgis, Chibber, et. al. are increasingly tiresome polemics against an invisible enemy they never have to respond directly to.

hive mind: revamping the global political economy syllabus from what my department usually teaches. i'd love some recs on important texts. caveat: for undergrads (i.e. readings as tight as possible). i'm not the biggest fan of survey text books so looking for individual readings

Haven’t read the book, but just going off the extremely defensive, petty, and goofy responses, I’m going to assume Rockhill is probably right

The kidnapping of a sitting president of a sovereign state is the foreseeable outcome of an int’ legal order whose permissive architecture enables colonial violence/years of genocide w/ structural impunity. A new int’ legal order, if it emerges at all, and on which our lives

Bombing Venezuela while coordinating a genocide in Palestine while threatening to attack Iran (again) while destabillizing Somalia while carrying out a heist in the DRC... US imperialism is the greatest threat to peace and security in our world today and it's not even close.

No nuance. No 'Maduro is bad but..'. Absolute solidarity with legitimate President Maduro & the popular revolutionary process he represents against the demonic, paedophilic imperialist monsters who are out to destroy it. To take any other position serves their sordid objectives.
