Every time I close to queries on QM, people just start emailing them to me—and ya’ll, I do not look at those. They get deleted. Do yourself a favor and query agents who are open!

Just one more day to get those queries in and then I’ll be closed through the new year while I tuck into everything that’s been sent my way!

Just to clarify. I am a literary agent just trying to show authors that they are not alone in experiencing frustrating responses to queries. Agents are in the “query trenches” too. Every day. We sympathize with what you go through. We query editors.

Here’s one of my favorite tricks that can help you fix almost any issue in your draft: reverse outlining. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s when you create a very detailed outline/summary of everything that happens in your novel—AFTER you’ve already finished your draft. A 🧵:
