I’ve gotten the most mundane celebrity news and feature stories appear on my phone as The New York Times breaking news alerts but UN workers being killed in Gaza today or up to 20 American doctors stuck there because Israel closed the Rafah borders don’t qualify as breaking news.

Every Palestinian knows about the trauma that affected the Nakba generation all their lives and then impacted their children and grandchildren. There will be intense and unspeakable trauma for those who somehow survive the Gaza genocide and it will bleed over as trauma does.

It’s wild to me cops use pepper spray with impunity against protestors but don’t know how to treat it.

McCarthy told cops to call an ambulance for him as they walked him off the bridge — protestors who get maced by cops never get that option.

How is writing that Palestinian journalists are fair game to be killed (even years ago) not disqualifying for service on the The Pulitzer Prizes board?

Two years ago today, Israeli occupation forces murdered the legendary Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, in Jenin.

Shireen was assassinated, but the The New York Times originally reported on the story as if she had mysteriously “died”—and the executioner (Israel) was not named.

protesters arrested after breaking into a building said in a statement: “We took it because we refuse to remain compliant in the face of an American-led genocide of the Palestinian people. We liberated the Hall, and made it Hind’s.”

So many beautiful things have been said about Shireen. Here is a reminder of the journalist and the woman that she was:

Shireen Abu Akleh inspired so many journalists in the Arab world and beyond, especially young women. She has a rich legacy of work, covering Israel’s multiple wars on Gaza and the impact of the siege, as well as the daily indignities of Israel’s occupation and apartheid system.

Someone get Congress, the ADL, the NYT, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper on the phone immediately —

TIME magazine just used the english word for ‘intifada’.

2 years on, and Israel has not been held accountable for deliberately murdering Shireen Abu Akleh or violently attacking her funeral. This image will never leave me.

For a fleeting moment, Shireen Abu Akleh liberated Jerusalem, and Jerusalem, in turn, gave her a funeral fit for a martyr. thenation.com/article/societ…

I remember an The Atlantic article that argued it wasn’t a genocide because not enough Palestinians were being killed. Just wondering what percentage would change their minds.
