They don't mention that every prospective metformin trial in cancer has been negative, all the "cured" pts were also on standard therapy, and dog deworming pills will not cure your lung cancer. Repurpose sure but still have to prove things work in clinical trials!

Serious proposal: what if we repurposed emissions inspection stations for #COVID19 #coronavirus testing? Already built, present in every state, usual work could be postponed, easy to identify them online, already set up to test something while ppl stay in cars. Talk me out of it.

In Italy, >4,000 medical staff have been infected by #coronavirus. At least 18 doctors have died from #COVID19, including several came out of retirement to help. "Heroes don't fall from the sky. They're just ordinary people who bravely stepped forward." 🕯RIP Heroes 🙏

CDC reports that in less than 2 months, we have seen 27 health care personnel die, 184 end up in the ICU and 723 hospitalized due to occupational exposure to Covid-19 and that these are likely an underreporting. We must protect our HCP better. cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/6…

1/ Covid (UC San Francisco) Chronicles, Day 150 Today, 150 days since I began my Covid tweets, I’m going to do something odd: write the speech that Trump should give. I have no faith he’ll do so, but it’s worth recognizing how little it would take to change course & save lives. Here goes:

Clinical trials are often the most promising option in cancer. Medicaid, which disproportionately covers minority & rural populations, is the only major payor that doesn't cover routine trial costs. Close the coverage gap, reduce disparities, and improve care! #ASCOAdvocacySummit

In Dec '01, one guy tried--& failed-- to set off explosives he had hidden in his shoes. Almost 2 decades later, we're all still removing our shoes at US airports. The #COVID19 virus has infected >20M in the US, killing 1 of every 58 who tested +. There's no nat'l #MaskUp policy.

Plenary at #ash21. Amazing data for hemophilia and even the plenary speaker agrees that investigators should not report the same AE with 3 terms. Your sponsor thanks you!. #datacleaningispainful

I am appalled at the clickbait in the The Washington Post detailing a clinical research participant's past life. Medicine is not a justice system and medical research volunteers shouldn't have their lives exposed for the world to judge. washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2022/…

Filling out a childcare release for my son. Strange that they ask permission to do CPR (I mean what 7 yo is DNR/DNI) and even stranger that it's considered "minor" first aid and grouped with hand sanitizer and ice packs

A rant about one of the biggest disincentives to teaching in academic medicine -- the required paperwork, which is OUT OF CONTROL. Solutions to this quagmire welcome. Latest: blogs.jwatch.org/hiv-id-observa…

Five years? I think I'm pretty open minded on drug price negotiation but that is just bonkers. Vertex got Kalydeco approved in 2012. 2017 was their first year of profitability. Basically nothing would get an ROI anymore.
