What is the word for the phenomenon whereby an institution benefits from the work of activists—the same activists the institution tried to silence and destroy—without acknowledging or giving credit to the source? I keep thinking “plagiarism,” but that doesn’t feel 100% correct.

stop using the term "counterprotest(ers)" when they're actually 1) off duty/ex-police (eg Jan 6), 2) zionist/pro-genocide zealots, and/or 3) state sanctioned/condoned right wing terrorists.

Currently grading some final exam/video reflections for the high school course I'm TAing and it's so heartening and encouraging to see young students critically and thoughtfully engaging with ethnic studies, and often bringing up ideas I never would have thought of at their age.

Few things fill my heart with more joy than notes and messages from students thanking me for the course, for helping them better understand themselves in relation to their histories, and as I'm grading final papers I'm crying at my desk
