Stop press: unlike previous lumpen & tower-based scheme, proposals to Restitch Newbury beautifully won planning last night overwhelmingly. Beautiful gentle density is the right path to more homes, more political & public support & more prosperous places. Do get in touch if …

Periodic reminder that “big box retailers” are perfectly capable of formatting their business for ground floor retail in mixed-use buildings.

Best and simplest chart I've seen on the increasing cost of the triple lock increases on state pensions. Especially since 2020. If the orange line is the rising cost of living, and the dark blue line is the rising earnings of those who have to pay for the state pension, then

If you're going to do a "why don't cyclists use the cycle lane" tweet, it will probably help your case somewhat if the accompanying photo doesn't show two fucking cars parked in it.

Here's a planning reform to restore trust in the system. When developers produce mock-ups of their new development, all imagery should be: 1. At street level. (I rarely float 10m above ground.) 2. On a wet and grey December afternoon.

The King endured decades of mockery and vitriol for building a mixed use, walkable, vernacular urban quarter at Poundbury. Now the Government says that Poundbury will be the model for next generation of new towns. Quite a vindication!

The more I push around a baby in a stroller the more I think the push for the ADA and disabled rights generally was the most underrated civil rights movement

This is a British advert for a heat pump from 1982. The main selling point back then was that it worked as AC in the Summer as well as a heater in the Winter. Today, large grants are available to install heat pumps in the UK, but not for the ones that work as ACs too.

i mean we should build a lot more housing but this is also driven by the fact that 7 families aren't living in a single two bedroom apartment anymore, which is good

Today I painted these tatty railings in Aldridge. The paint was flaking off badly. Wire brushed and a good coat of gloss black. Tricky work in high winds with leaves blowing about. Well worth doing lots of barriers still to do here. It's weather dependent work that's the key.

Haussmann cracked the code on what makes a beautiful medium-density city. Why is it then that we can't replicate this all around the world? Genuine question. x.com/Parisianaes1/s…
