Amid the Ukraine and Gaza conflicts, Hans Blix's 'A Farewell to Wars' suggests that nuclear fears, economic ties, and public aversion are pushing the world away from war. Can restraint prevail? #GlobalPeace #Restraint responsiblestatecraft.org/hans-blix/

When I see the gap between the narrow focus of national debates (particularly in France) and the strategic issues raised by the Draghi report, I am pessimistic. Let’s hope that von der Leyen will manage to create a sense of urgency to stop decline of Europe.

Utile rétrospective du pessimisme pré-olympique de LFI et du RN : les extrêmes jouent sur l’angoisse, la haine de soi, et le ressentiment.

The risk for US of authorizing use by Ukraine of long-range missiles is not nuclear escalation, but Russian escalation with other means (covert action, cyber, ) in other regions (including Middle East). A test of how much Ukraine is an American priority.

The risk of post-electoral violence in 🇺🇸 is very high, comparable to what I have observed in countries recovering from conflict. But there won’t be a peacekeeping force to contain it: difficult to comprehend such a situation in the richest country of the world, and very scary.

US ambassador is right, but there are several countries which don’t have all the elements of statehood and yet are recognized by the 🇺🇸: Sudan, South Sudan, Haiti… Much hypocrisy here.

There is growing fear of World War III in the United States & American voters in swing states are confused: they say Trump “is more likely to keep the U.S. out of war”(…)but they also say that “the former president is more likely than Harris to get the U.S. into "World War III”.

Excellent article d’Anne Chemin sur l’évolution présidentialiste de la constitution française. Elle aurait pu davantage souligner combien l’élection au suffrage universel du président déséquilibre les institutions.– via Le Monde lemonde.fr/politique/arti…
