Is the offspring’s DNA methylome a possible mechanism through which direct and indirect genetic effects act? Yes! In this new Netherlands Twin Register preprint, we found 51 offspring CpGs related to parental or offspring PGSs for schizophrenia, EA, BMI & height. 1/4
A remarkable epigenetic phenomenon known as genomic imprinting was discovered in 1984. Anne Ferguson-Smith and Dr. Marisa Bartolomei trace the history of this field and the impact it has had on scientists’ understanding of development, inheritance and disease. go.nature.com/4dySaHA
Looking forward to #ESHRE2024 my presentation is in session 64 on Tuesday. DNA methylation signature of monozygotic twinning: investigating the relationship with medically assisted reproduction, higher-order gestations, and common genetic variants Netherlands Twin Register
🟢🔵 The wonderful Jenny van Dongen takes us through monozygotic twins and DNA methylation at #ESHRE2024
Lastly, Nikki Hubers presented her work comparing #transcriptomic and #metabolomicsdata between MZ and DZ twins in Netherlands Twin Register and FIMM HelsinkiUni, finding converging evidence for the TGF-B pathway for DZ twinning and the WNT-signaling pathway and cell cycle processes for MZ twinning.
Save the date: Mini Symposium on Epigenetics at the Vrije Universiteit, September 5th with Laurel Raffington, PhD Dr. Yayouk Jenny van Dongen and Bodine Gonggrijp
