When a “rock"-star 5th-grade class & science teacher discovered Illinois has no state rock, they conducted research, held an election, & recommended Dolostone to be Illinois' State Rock. I addressed the House in honor of the great teachers and students committed to science.

PEAT, Pleasantdale Environmental Action Team, has been partnering with Trex, to keep as much plastic out of landfills as possible. To date, the team has collected, sorted, and weighed 226 POUNDS of plastic! 150 pounds this year alone! Pleasantdale SD 107 Jen Lauermann

Today our students were visited by US Congressman Sean Casten as he celebrated their accomplishment of getting a state rock passed through the Illinois senate and the house. What a great experience for our students and school! Jeanine Arundel Jen Lauermann

Last year, I spoke on the House floor about Jen Lauermann's 5th-grade class working to make Dolostone Illinois’ official state rock. This week, I visited their class to congratulate them on sending a bill to Governor Pritzker's desk to do just that.
