"What are the strategic implications of appointing a flatearther to a security decision-making position?" --- this wonderful thought-experiment assignment for undergrad SecStudies students is becoming real-life relevant fast....

#GeorgiaProtests carnivalesque portrayal on some screens obscures naked, wanton brutality: regime goons (police officers and/or auxiliaries) leave bones shattered, jaws and eye-sockets broken, there is reported humiliation &threats of rape.

What is happening in #Georgia is beyond "pro-European" or even"pro-democratic." It is a resistance movement to occupation, and that's why it gains wider adhesion, I argue in Civil.ge op-ed. civil.ge/archives/641317

The new issue of #GEOPolitics is out! This is a truly heroic performance from the publishers Gnomon Wise --- great thanks to them! Insights about post-election (but mostly pre-protest) #Georgia can be found here!

As easily foreseeable, GD uses tone-deaf, ill-prepared visit of Council of Europe SG Alain Berset to boost its claim to legitimacy. A Swiss politician thinks talk is always useful. Was it worth it? Good question for PACE to ask their SG.

At DeskRussie and in French, I look at the dynamics and context of the #GeorgiaProtests as a movement of resistance. desk-russie.eu/2024/12/22/en-…

The opposition to Russian tyranny and its ways feeds the spontaneous resistance to those bent on installing tyranny at home. In #GeorgiaProtests, resistance cuts across social classes, ideological preferences, or age. My article in Desk Russie desk-russie.info/2024/12/23/in-…

I think #Georgia's current protests have common points with 1848 "springtime of the nations" in Europe. Those have failed as political revolutions but brought lasting cultural shift. Can Georgia succeed where they failed? Or at least succeed to achieve the same result? Read here.

An usurpation and three months of protests later, analytical articles still say "Georgia is at a crossroads." Must be a traffic jam.

Tomorrow, thousands of Georgians going to protest would brave a 4 years prison sentence created under custom-made law specifically against this protest march. The arbitrariness of the police and kangaroo courts has been blatant before, but this is likely the point of no return.

Just to leave this here: literally the ENTIRE top news lineup of the GD propaganda channel Imedi TV is composed of gleeful posts about Musk/Trump's #USAID-bashing. Trump Makes America a Joke Again for the second-hand Russia-Iran-Chinese-boot-licking autocrats like Ivanishvili.
