First day of remote learning, and I am so proud of my students! Their work is awesome! Did you know that aardvarks eat termites? Great fact that two first graders found in an e-book they used for research today! They cited the title, author, and page number well too.

Since grades can't mix for buddy activities in person, it was neat to do Breakout Rooms on Zoom today so MS students could look at research articles w/ 1st & 2nd grade. An advantage of remote learning - it'd probably be too loud w/ everyone in a classroom on Zoom simultaneously.

Congratulations to our Science Olympiad team members in the Mystery Build event on winning a gold medal this weekend! With only a few binder clips, straws, tape, and pieces of paper, they build a structure that could support 3 quarters! #JCSDpride

I completed my Seesaw Ambassadors training today! I picked up some great ideas for how I might use the Seesaw platform in future teaching, and I hope that it will enable me to be helpful to other educators who use Seesaw.

This fall, the back-to-school bulletin board shows how our library learners have grown over the several years with a poster for each grade level.

Kindergarteners are collaborating with high school multimedia students to determine content for research videos that the HS students will create.

The 2022-23 school year is off to a great start in the JCSD Library! Third through ninth grade classes and some others have visited so far and checked out a total of 312 books.

High school English classes have been previewing young adult library books and reviewing how to use the catalog and call numbers to find books in the library.

There’s no math like toilet paper math! Today the accelerated 6th grade math class researched prices and calculated unit rates as well as annual family costs.

Outstanding Janesville Science Olympiad achievements at the Boyceville Invitational today! Every student medaled in at least one event, and the MS team was third overall in the small schools division!
