Nearly 200 students with special needs at 2023 Dragon Games! Hosted by Johnston Peer PE & Best Buddies, the field day featured adaptive & wheelchair bikes, parachute, ribbon twirling, catapults, sensory stations, giant soccer, bowling & more. DCG & Urbandale joined us this year.

And… the afternoon sessions of the #HorizonTalentShow2023 continued the fun with dancing, singing, gymnastics, jokes and more!!! Our students are intelligent, kind, and talented!

Horizon third, fourth and fifth graders this morning celebrated raising their reading proficiency from 68% to 73% this year! After watching two videos about the importance of setting goals, they celebrated with JD the dragon and a surprise glow party. Way to go, Horizon Elementary! 💜💛🎉

Zoology students from JHS brought their animals to our 2nd graders 🐍 🕷️ 🐢

To say they were excited is an understatement! Horizon Elementary kindergarten through 2nd graders today celebrated achieving their goal of raising reading proficiency from 68% to 73%. Students were sooo excited to celebrate with JD the mascot and a surprise glow party. Amazing! 📚💜💛🎉

Step Up Day!!! Students all ‘stepped up’ to the next grade level to meet the teachers and hear about the awesome things they’ll learn next year!
