鉄バクテリアが作り出した鉄の酸化皮膜。 昔は油が浮いているものだと思っていたのですが、細菌のしわざだったんですね！ シャボン玉の表面のように綺麗な虹色をしていました。

I have been granted tenure & promotion - and the only way I could think to celebrate was to paint some of the soils that carried & nourished me through this process. I'm planning to send this print to many who have been integral to the process - b/c honestly - WE earned tenure.

Running a pilot study where I am rearing crayfish offspring to study heritability of traits across generations of crayfish. One of my berried females knocked off this egg off her, so I have been in vitro culturing it in a petri dish..the baby cray is still alive 5 days later!

One cool thing about the area is that late in season there are small melt water ponds full of snow algae. Like big pools of blood!
