Finally got round to reading ‘Travels With Herodotus’. What a fantastic book. Ponderings on the nature of history and the past particularly interesting to any trial lawyer, so often delving into the past to discern ‘truth’. There is no past/truth,only infinite renderings of it.

4 ordinary lads (except that 3 of them were very very clever) who astonished themselves (and in my case, everyone else, too) by getting into Oxford nearly 35 years ago. Still right up there with the proudest, happiest, most important achievements of my life.

SIHIS: firstly, you can’t apply a sort of groupthink ‘expert’ algorithm to every case of suspected infant head injury. Everyone who knows them knows that. Secondly, what about justice being seen to be done? Or are we disapplying that in children’s law because it’s too expensive?
