More on Robert Hall, Tatham. South side - it was house of recusant Cansfield family. Look at those massive stacks! Datestone of 1677 is loose inside cross-passage. Long west wing shows three members of the Yorkshire Vernacular Buildings Study Group YVBSG VAG

Barker House Farm, Lancaster University. Much altered farmhouse dated 1691 (the '9' is wrong way round). A wealth of re-used cruck timbers. Fireplace lintel - a type usually seen as a doorhead. Now used for quiet studies. VAG

After being unoccupied since the 1930's, Parker's Farmhouse at Rishton, near Accrington, Lancashire, is being restored. Dates to c.1600 and is Listed Grade 2*. VAG

Yesterday I went to Hesketh End Farmhouse, Chipping, Lancashire, dated 1591 & Listed Grade 1. Many long and short Latin inscriptions, referring English history from the Romans to the Saxons. Decorative interlacing window lintels and several big gaping gargoyles. VAG
