I fear schools/trusts too often fear aggressive parents, fear they’ll go to press/ofsted/governors/trustees. When we fear unreasonable parents we allow those parents to decide school culture. That’s a dereliction of duty on part of head/trust.

It’s worth considering if teachers are forever running decentralised detentions, restorative chats, chasing pupils to attend these things etc then what are they not doing with that time... Time is finite. It’s about opportunity cost. I imagine the curriculum ends up 2nd place.

Why on earth spend precious minutes creating something pointless, and purely for show, when you could spend those minutes doing the serious, difficult work of curricular thinking. It's a triumph of form/show over substance. Nothing about it means the curriculum is any good.

Andrew Old School attempts to enforce a rule, despite several adults trying to persuade, S refuses to follow a reasonable instruction, they swear at adults/smash stuff up/flip tables in full view of others. Head suspends & the apologists repackage/present as ‘suspended for wrong uniform.’
