I was talking to someone in our central office today about some communication protocols. He responded: “Call me whenever. I don’t care who calls me. I’m here to support you.” I could have cried. Whatever your role is... what you want from those above you... is SUPPORT!

The greatest way to motivate is not through speeches but through one on one relationships and connections with those you lead, coach, teach and parent.

Interesting thing about getting older...Your eyesight gets weaker but your ability to see through people gets so much stronger! 💯

I think it's a mistake to talk about "achievement gaps" without talking about housing gaps, wealth gaps, healthcare gaps, etc. "Achievement" doesn't happen in a vacuum. We should work to understand the context.

Students want support from teachers. Teachers want support from administrators. Administrators want support from central office. If you’re ever in a situation, and you don’t know what to do… it’s hard to go wrong if you offer support.

My son is building a skateboard in his woodshop class right now and he CANNOT stop talking about it. When we let students explore their passions, they are engaged and fired up to learn. #BeTheOne

Good teachers know their lesson plans. Great teachers know their students. Good coaches know X's and O's. Great coaches know their players. Good leaders know their vision. Great leaders know their team. Your people make the difference. They matter. Remind them that you care.

Get vaccinated.

It’s great to learn from the past but don’t live there. Say thank you to what yesterday taught you and hello to the life you want create today. Look and live forward. Create a vision of what you want to build, become, and do.

A lot of teachers are stressed because their students are not where they expect them to be by this point. They need to give themselves some grace. They can’t teach twice as hard and the kids can’t learn twice as fast. We just take them where we get them… and move them forward.

Others will try to estimate your worth. You must clearly define your values.
