"I'm blown away by the support today" our Deputy General Secretary Jane Peckham tells members, emphasising that the fact that further strikes are taking place is due to the failure of government to fully engage with us to resolve our dispute.

Teachers on the Isle of Man are striking due to an ongoing row over pay, workload and working practices. Some gathered outside St Ninian's this morning. IOM NASUWT are calling for a multi-year fully funded pay offer after what they're calling a 'historic erosion of pay'.

The Deputy General Secretary for the NASUWT, Jane Peckham, has also travelled to the island to support those striking. She says there are teachers on the island who are having to move into shared accommodation and find second jobs. Some are also relying on the foodbank.

Following constructive talks with Department of Education, Sport and Culture we have agreed to withdraw the two days of strike action planned for next Wednesday and Thursday (15th and 16th February) in order to enable talks to continue to resolve the current dispute over pay, workload and working practices.
