A few moments after MPs voted for assisted dying, the Government Whip on duty objected to and blocked the Children’s Hospices (Funding) Bill.

A patient with hearing aids who plays multiple musical instruments and is in a a band A patient who plays multiple (contact!) sports after major lower limb surgery A patient who is blind who plays the piano All of whom are cancer survivors. A true privilege being their doctor.

In today’s NHS climate it almost always seems wrong to say you love your job. But tonight’s carol concert with Success Charity - Life After Cure, a charity very close to my heart dedicated to childhood brain tumour survivors, reminded me what a privilege it is to care for them.

Bears out in clinical practice, even in paediatric settings and pubertal induction. We favour transdermal preparations so much that we forget some of our patients do much better with other routes eg oral. Have had to swap quite a few patients now esp with hypothalamic obesity.

Blessed Christmas as well as Hannukah everyone - this year I pray for more peace for 2025 (and for more of us to move to Bluesky!)

On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worst imaginable cock up, this ranks pretty damn near a 9.95. Especially bearing in mind quite a few who thought they passed are now well into being higher specialty trainees.

Omnishambles aside, how does this even work? Surely some have passed their clinical exams and have been legitimately using their MRCP titles, have been working in training posts requiring MRCPs…. And that is just in the UK…. And then the question is how far back can this go? 😮

“Everybody expects you to be better, but that's not the case at all” Good to see her talk about this, highlighting why orgs such as Success Charity - Life After Cure are important. The messaging around “beating cancer” must stop as so many survivors have #lateeffects mirror.co.uk/news/royals/br…

Today is my last day as Head of Severn School of Radiology. This has been the best job of my career so far and a real privilege to support our radiology residents through their training. A few reflections on educational leadership follow. 🧵 1/10
