Good rule of thumb: make your horizon and fog the opposite color of your lights. Generally makes for an interesting gradient of complimentary colors. Creates separation, visual interest, mood, etc.

So similar to working with high poly subdiv, if you're using bevel shader to bake high->low, you only need the high poly version to be sufficiently dense. Low poly cylinders only need to be denser if you want similar results while baking low to low in Marmoset
