South Korean news agency Yonhap confirms that a helicopter involved in fighting wildfires in South Korea has crashed. The fires are worst in decades. At least 18 people have died including 4 involved with the emergency response. High winds mean flames are still spreading.

A huge earthquake has struck Myanmar, a poor country in the midst of a civil war. These pictures are from the neighbouring Chinese province of Yunnan. Yunnan is at least 200 miles from where the epicentre is being reported. A sense of how serious things must be.
