The next meting of the Library Board will be held on September 10 at 4:30 pm at the Halifax Public Library.

Due to telecommunication and internet connectivity issues the Halifax Public Library has closed for the day. The South Boston Public Library will be open until 3:30 pm today.

The Halifax library is continuing to experience telecommunications issues. We are having a switch replaced within the next 24 hours and hope that this will alleviate the problem. Thank you for your patience.

The Friends of the Library will be holding a book sale on September 21 and again on September 28, from 9 am-4 pm. The sale will be held at the original Halifax Public Library building on Mountain Road. Books will be $1.00 each or a bag of books for $5.00.

The South Boston Public Library will be closed from 1:00 pm-3:00 pm this Friday, September 20.

Dr. Robin Bates from the University of Lynchburg will be speaking at the Halifax Public Library on Monday, September 30, at 6:30 pm. Dr. Bates' program is entitled "Shakespeare and the English Landscape."

FINES OR TREATS!: CANDY FOR FINES. In October customers may pay overdue fines by donating bags of new, unopened Halloween candy. For every bag donated $3.00 in overdue fines will be forgiven. The candy will be given out at the Halifax Trick or Treat Trail on October 31.

The October meeting of the Library Board will be held on October 8 at 4:30 pm at the Halifax Public Library.

During the month of October the library will be selling plastic trick or treat bags for $1.00. Support the library and get the kids a great bag for their Halloween candy!

Candy for Fines starts today! Pay your overdue fines by donating new & unopened bags of Halloween candy. Every bag you donate means $3.00 is taken off of the amount of fines you owe. The candy will be given out by the library at the Halifax Trick or Treat Trail on October 31.

The library is selling trick or treat bags for $1.00 each! Both the Halifax and South Boston locations are selling the bags, and all proceeds go to the library.
