Jewelry! A study of a square ring in aluminum, which later led to Harry's own wedding ring. His wedding ring, a size 13, in gold, sat in his dresser drawer because he did not want it to get in the way while working. His hands continued to grow larger as he used them.

A #Bertoia #bronze gifted to a family member in the 1960s has weathered well. His works tend to be very #organic and nature-driven. What do you think it is?

The weekend is here - take the beauty of this bush and carry it with you. 18" tall, bronze, c. 1970. Harry Bertoia probably spent a full month welding this quad piece.

Here is an unusual #Bertoia bush that has open tips. They are made from copper plumbing pipes, simply cut and then squeezed into oval shapes. Dare to be different!

This bronze 48" gong, has a slit down the middle, which effectively makes it a longer slab, increasing vibrations and changing the sound. The cord by which it hangs is perfectly balanced, carefully configured. The monotype show several other possible gong shapes.

This 33" tonal sold in 2022. As Harry discovered that the "cylinder" tops added deeper, louder tones without going taller. The soldered rods at the base show that this one was made in the early 1970s, when he began to drill a hole for the rod and a concave space for the solder.

Bertoia's handcrafted #jewelry, both #modernist and timeless, was created mostly in the mid 1940s out of various metals, and even cotton thread. These two gorgeous pieces belong to relatives. The left one came in the 1970s to be produced in quantity but Harry died too soon.

A pretty #brass #bush to carry you into the weekend! Made in 1974, perfect for on top of a bookshelf or plinth. Bushes were inspired by the many wild and planted bushes near our Pennsylvania residence.
