Dr. Sheets will be greatly missed by countless in the UMMS family. I will always remember his laughter, his kindness, and his interest in everyone as a person. Years later he would always stop in the hallway to say hello and catch up. May he RIP. Thoughts are with his family.

Today, my co-authors and I wrote a sentence in NEJM that I will remember for the rest of my career. I hope you read the piece, but if you only read one thing, know this. "Black people are loved." nejm.org/doi/full/10.10…

Who do we care for and how do we care for them? Surgeons and surgical leadership cannot be idle bystanders in understanding and addressing healthcare inequities in our own practices and communities. Thought-provoking article by Sidra Bonner MD MPH MS Glenn Wakam @Gifty_Kwakye_MD John W Scott, MD MPH

South Bend is proud to be the hometown of Dr. Feranmi Dr. O (Feranmi Okanlami, MD MS) as he continues to lead in the fields of medicine and disability advocacy. I'm glad more people are learning about his important work, and inspiring story.

2 amazing pieces in McSweeney's #FlattenedByTheCurve Jakob McSparron's mcsweeneys.net/articles/thank… Christopher Cox's mcsweeneys.net/articles/the-d… Both focusing, eloquently, on the relentless drain of this epidemic, and being only at the end of the beginning of #COVID19
