Back from my first shift as a volunteer marshall at Bath’s large vaccine centre. Slick operation, lovely people, good feelings all round. Superbly organised by 3SG 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

It would be great if we allocated more money for the NHS in Captain Tom’s memory so that in the future 100 year old aren’t having to fundra-oh they’ve announced another clap fantastic forget what I just said everyone

Here we go, again. The government must confirm the SFVS is safe for September, so that all 4-6 year olds in England get their free piece of fruit or veg at break time.

Great to read that the National Food Strategy proposes that the Govt doubles the funding for the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme & that the money should be given directly to schools. Currently, the scheme is still awaiting approval to restart in Sept nationalfoodstrategy.org

We urgently need Sir Gavin Williamson CBE MP to confirm that the #SFVS will return in September as normal, before 2.3 million children lose their daily piece of free fruit or veg.

Sarah Green🐧🦄 Jamie Barry Department for Education Hannah Cameron McKenna #sfvs is not a statutory scheme and needs gov sign off every year. This is a huge blow to schools. We've written to Department for Education and Department of Health and Social Care looking for urgent clarification. Wera Hobhouse MP 🔶 🇺🇦 has also a question in parliament😡 sustainweb.org/news/jul21-sfv…

🥕🍅🌱🥒🍓🍏🍐🍎🍊🍌👧🏽👦🏼👩🏻‍🦱🧒🏫 It’s #WorldEmojiDay and this is the School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme in emojis It provides 2.3 million pieces of fruit/veg to every 4-7 year old in England every school day and is currently under threat 🤞that it will be given the🚦go ahead soon

Still no answer to Wera Hobhouse MP 🔶 🇺🇦’s question on the #SFVS despite the deadline being yesterday. It’s not good enough that schools are breaking up this week, not knowing whether their children will return to free fruit and veg in September.

Hannah Cameron McKenna (@hannahrcameron) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Delighted that the #SFVS has been confirmed to return in September, a shame it had to happen on the last day of term. Are we going to do this every year? Thanks to all involved for their help, and as ever our excellent MP Wera Hobhouse MP 🔶 🇺🇦

600 school leaders, and we know there are so many more who would agree. Annual reporting on standards will keep good school food on the agenda for all schools and enable schools to share best practice.

Enough is enough. It’s beyond that in fact. Government has a powerful tool available to alleviate this problem almost immediately. The numbers pale into insignificance vs recent budget interventions. Industry is ready. Schools are ready. Extend free school meal entitlement now.
