We are working hard to get the mobility mix right in Kendall Yards. In addition to pedestrian and cycle improvements, we are making a big commitment to transit. October 1 we commence a new program with STA. All residents and employees will have access to free bus passes.

In the first month the Kendall Yards/West Central transit pass program drew over 1500 rides! We think that is a great start, and we are learning loads about the barriers to transit use that need to be removed. #Spokanetransit #kendallyardsliving #sustai…lnkd.in/g_gNksb

The urban growth boundary has most certainly worsened sprawl in the Spokane region. It has simply shifted growth from Spokane County to the Rathdrum Prairie in north Idaho, extending commutes and increasing traffic in the I-90 corridor. lnkd.in/gsK79az

The unpaved commercial surface parking lots on the North Bank are a blight. Allowing commercial parking lots to operate on unpaved surfaces with no landscaping keeps parking revenues high and holding costs low. It’s no wonder, even in a real estate boom…lnkd.in/edm4wUy

Spokane simply does not encourage infill development using existing infrastructure. When you fail to build homes to accommodate the people living in your community rapidly escalating prices are the result. nytimes.com/2022/02/20/bus…

The city council is determined to make sure that developers pay more for the cost of sewer and water infrastructure. Here is the impact on a BOCA four-plex on an infill lot. The Upper zone is of course most of the South Hill.
