It was wonderful to catch up with Casey Cant when she was volunteering at the Ropsley Heath Light Railway for our recent Trade Aid fundraising event. Casey was one of the first students to receive our Children of Courage Award in 2012.

We welcomed Lyn and Tony Churchill to our meeting who spoke to us about 'Watch Out!', their mission to help children deal with the challenges and dangers they face in life and to give them the skills to deal with them. Check out the website: okourkids.co.uk

We were delighted to welcome representatives (see photo below) from seven local charities to receive cheques totalling £4,500 at our Annual Charity Presentation evening this week, the money being raised at our very successful 18th Annual Charity Golf Day in August.

At last week's meeting, we had a very interesting illustrated talk from Dominic Fieldhouse-Gray, Community Development Officer for the @WoodlandTrust on the Londonthorpe Wood and Bellmount Project which aims to reconnect Grantham to its historical landscape

Last Sunday, representatives from our three Grantham Rotary Clubs attended the Remembrance Service at St Wulfram's Church and laid wreaths of poppies to commemorate the fallen and all those who have made and continue to make sacrifices to keep us safe

Thank you very much to everyone who has taken part in our Rotary Shoebox appeal this year, including students from Kesteven & Grantham Girls' School. Your generosity and kindness is much appreciated and children and families who have very little are going to be delighted when they open their gifts

Very many thanks to Assistant Head of The King's School Nathan Whales and Deputy Head Boy, Thomas Linford who came along to our meeting to tell us all about the school's wonderful Toy Bank project which will be opening again this Christmas for its sixth year
