If you saw the v interesting BBC story about the HMS Dasher #WW2 tragedy, Jack Stockford, 21, from Ferry Rd, was an aircraft electrician on the aircraft carrier. Ex-Grange Council School pupil and popular local soccer player, he was a GWR worker, before joining up in 1941.

Street party in Oakley St, Grangetown, #Cardiff in May 1945. 25,000 at the civic centre marked the end of #WW2 in Europe with prayers of thanksgiving, hymns, a public broadcast of Churchill's speech, a minute's silence for 1,300 local dead. Then hours of celebration! #VEDay80
