In English this week Year 1 were introduced to their new text "The Gingerbread Man". We decorated our own Gingerbread Men and predicted what we think would happen if the Gingerbread Man got wet before investigating this. We are very excited to read our new novel! 😃

Mrs Stewart Greystoke Primary Years 1 and 2 had the brilliant author Donna David visit us and share her experiences of being an author. We listened to her book ‘Trains Trains Trains’ and found out how she gets her inspiration and the writing process. The children loved it📙

This week to celebrate Black History month Year 1 learnt about the illustrator Dapo Adeola. Dapo is a children's book illustrator. We enjoyed reading "My dad is a grizzly bear". We then watched a video learning how to draw some of the main characters from his books. Greystoke Primary

Something very exciting happened in Year One today! As part of our Animal topic we wrote a letter to David Attenborough asking him questions about his work. Today we received a reply!! He wrote back and answered some of the questions the children had.😀 Greystoke Primary

Another great outcome from Art club! In Spring 2 we incorporated technology into our art and tried something new creating digital patterns. The children designed their pattern and created the different shapes. Well done everyone they look great! 😀🖥️🎨 Greystoke Primary

This week the children in Year One have enjoyed using the VR headsets. The children loved looking at different places, talking about the weather and climate in hot and cold places. They were shocked when a polar bear appeared!!! Miss Yakub

We visited the local church. As part of our RE lessons, we have been learning about Christianity and their place of worship. We learnt about the different features of a church and it was a brilliant experience to see this in real life. Mrs Smith was super proud! Mrs Stewart

We've had the Trust tech in this week! We used the Spheros and coded them so that they could move around the track. Chn enjoyed investigating how the Spheros moved on each coloured mat as well thinking of the different ways to direct them. Greystoke Primary Mrs Stewart
