This was my first Halloween in Jason McLellan in 2014. As a small new team, we won a pumpkin carving competition and got free pizzas! We have been focusing on infectious diseases from the beginning. Look at the chest and infected lungs (eggplants). Enjoy Science, and enjoy life.

Making 17 plasmids in 2 weeks was not a big challenge, but pressure was. I started working on coronaviruses since 2013 in Tsinghua. During the past 8 years, I made ~2000 constructs, with half related to S proteins. >500 were made in~2 years to finally achieve stabilized S-2P.

Yesterday I obtained my first shot of Pfizer vaccine, which used “S-2P” that I developed. The building (Yale Lanman Center) is great. It has been converted into field hospital to help fight against 1918 Flu. It was concerted again last year for COVID-19.

Today I was invited to give a presentation to 5-year-old Kindergarten kids about coronavirus and vaccine. Below is to show how a virus gets into a cell,then how vaccines were made to protect us. I love those big eyes! They are smart kids. Hope they will all get the shot.
