Today at the #UNGA79, I reaffirmed 🇲🇩 Moldova’s unwavering solidarity with 🇺🇦 Ukraine. Russia’s war of aggression violates international law and the UN Charter. Peace must mean justice, accountability, and full restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.

This week I welcomed three European Commissioners to Moldova: Marta Kos, Christophe Hansen, Glenn Micallef. Their visits show the EU’s strong support for our country — for farmers, entrepreneurs, young people, creators, athletes, and all sectors of life.

Today, the new 🇪🇺 Ambassador to 🇲🇩, Iwona Piórko, officially took up her post by presenting credentials to Maia Sandu. Looking forward to working together as Moldova moves closer to the EU family! #EUinMoldova #EUAccession #FutureTogether

Today in Rome, I had the pleasure of meeting Giorgia Meloni. We discussed how to bring Moldova and Italy even closer — in economy, development, and security. Grateful for Italy’s friendship and our shared commitment to peace, stability, and a strong European future.

The bilateral screening process, one of the most complex stages of the 🇪🇺 accession agenda, was successfully completed today. A marathon of almost 15 months of intensive work & over 100,000 pages analyzed in terms of alignment of the national legislation’s to the 🇪🇺 regulations.

The last screening session was for Chapter 33: Financial & Budgetary Provisions. The 🇲🇩 delegation was lead by Cristina Gherasimov & representatives of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Environment, National Bureau of Statistics & Customs Service, BIE & Legal Harmonization Center

This Sunday, Moldova heads into its most consequential election. Its outcome will decide whether we consolidate our democracy and join the EU, or whether Russia drags us back into a grey zone, making us a regional risk. Moldova’s future must be decided by Moldovans, not Moscow.

Moldova is facing one of the most brazen Russian foreign interference campaigns to date ahead of their election this Sunday — akin to what the world just witnessed in Georgia and Romania. Maia Sandu is holding the line against the Kremlin. She deserves the West's full support.
