FM Heiko Maas 🇪🇺 I agreed with my colleague from Norway MFA, Ine Eriksen #Søreide, that 🇩🇪 &🇳🇴 should support peace talks for #Afghanistan. We also agree that a good final result is more important than time lines. We must not risk hard-earned progress made in the human rights realm.

The last part of my daily commute takes me thru Brandenburg Gate. Every time it feels like a privilege. When I was a kid diplomat, there was a wall right here dividing #Berlin My daily reminder that #change for the good is possible, and surprises, too.

We are shocked and appalled by today’s horrible attack on yet another place of learning in Kabul. There can be no justification for deliberate killings of innocent civilians. Afghanistan 🇦🇫 needs peace. Germany 🇩🇪 continues its support.

1/2 We are shocked and saddened by the killing of former TOLOnews anchor #YamaSiawash in an attack in Kabul today. This was an attack against one of the core foundations of a democratic society - freedom of the press.

31 years ago today, on November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall fell after 28 years. That day not only marked the end of Germany’s division but also the beginning of a strong and united Europe! #EuropeUnited #NoMoreWalls
