We welcome the announcement that the US intends to revoke the designation of the Houthis as a foreign terrorist organization. This will provide profound relief to millions of Yemenis who rely on humanitarian assistance and commercial imports to meet their basic survival needs.

The Covid-19 pandemic has taught us more than ever that we are all connected. Take care of yourself. Take care of each other.

The intentional use of the starvation of civilians as a method of waging war is a war crime. This week I urged the United Nations Security Council to seek accountability for these atrocious acts, and to remind parties to conflict of their obligations under international humanitarian law.

People are dying of hunger in #Tigray. Time is running out. We need unfettered humanitarian access to scale up and avert a catastrophe. ALL parties must make good on this commitment NOW.

The United Nations humanitarian operation in Syria is currently the biggest in the world. Today, I urged the members of the Security Council to reach consensus to allow for effective access, through all possible channels, to the millions of Syrians in need of humanitarian assistance.

I welcome the Security Council’s decision to extend the United Nations cross-border mechanism in north-west Syria via the Bab al-Hawa border crossing. This will ensure humanitarian assistance continues for over 3.4 million people in need, including 1 million children.

Very happy & proud to see this. The deconfliction-Humanitarian notification system which we built OCHA Yemen is the backbone of the humanitarian operations in the country. It enables the humanitarian organizations to continue delivering much needed aid under difficult conditions.

The #COP26 outcome is a compromise, reflecting the interests, contradictions & state of political will in the world today. It's an important step, but it's not enough. It's time to go into emergency mode. The climate battle is the fight of our lives & that fight must be won.

A truly important resolution is 30 years. Today’s humanitarian relief is clearly imperfect. But then it was catastrophically ineffective. Next 30 years must enable people in need able to shape the services they need to become self sufficient.

It’s impossible to be at the Rafah crossing & not feel heartbroken. Behind these walls there are 2 million people in Gaza with no water, food, medicine, fuel. On this side, these trucks have what they need. We need to make them move—as soon as possible, as many as necessary.
