#GodsWord–Mark 6:53-56: By now, people were convinced that if the sick would merely touch the fringe of Jesus' robe, they would be immediately cured. As a result, from everywhere in the surroundings the sick were brought to him. Let’s also be instruments of his healing to others.

#GodsWord–Mark 7:1-13: For Jesus, a hypocrite is one who thinks that he is a good person because he observes meticulously the external regulations of worship, although he keeps bitterness, grudges & pride in his heart. Let’s honor & serve God with the justice & goodness he wants.

#GodsWord–Mark 7:14-23: For Jesus, foods & other external things are not in themselves clean or unclean in any real religious sense of the term. Rather, what defiles us are our actions & inner attitudes. Let’s recognize that the heart of the problem is the problem of our hearts.

#GodsWord–Mark 7:24-30: The Syrophoenician woman who came asking Jesus’ help for her demon possessed daughter stands for those who eagerly accept the bread of the Gospel that Jesus gives, while others reject & throw it away. Let’s also seek him with humility & sincerity of heart.

#GodsWord–Mark 7:31-37: Jesus didn’t consider the deaf man merely a case, but as an individual who had special needs & problems. With tender considerateness he spoke to him with signs that he could understand. Let’s also be attentive to the spiritual & physical needs of others.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:1-10: Jesus had pity on the crowd & wished to give them something to eat, but the disciples immediately pointed out the practical difficulties in finding food for so many people. Let’s not wait until all the circumstances are perfect before we think of helping.

#GodsWord–Matthew 5:17-37: Jesus was staunchly honest & never deceived anyone; his every word was accurate & true. He wants us to eliminate all forms of dishonesty from our lives. Let’s also tell the truth, the whole truth & nothing but the truth & live up to our word & promises.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:11-13: To Jesus the whole world was full of signs of God’s activity, & for the one who has eyes to see & a heart to understand, the daily splendor of common things is evidence enough of his love. Let’s have in-sight & recognize his goodness in our lives' events.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:14-21:Though the disciples had Jesus in their midst & had heard his teachings, they were still thinking of the leaven that makes bread & not of the changing power of his words. Let’s renew our faith in him & be on our guard against all that separates us from him.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:22-26: Jesus is concerned about our being caught up in all sorts of spiritual blindness. He also reaches out to us & wants us to open our eyes to God’s beauty & goodness in our lives & neighbors. Let’s also have his compassion for those who suffer in body & soul.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:27-33: If Jesus had lived, taught, & died & no one had realized that he was the Anointed One & Son of God, all his work would have been for nothing. But with Peter’s answer, he knew that he hadn't failed. Let’s also in words & deeds profess our faith in him.

#GodsWord–Mark 8:34: Jesus didn't try to attract followers by offering them an easy way. He promised them toil, blood, sweat & tears. They had to deny themselves & be ready to die as criminals on a cross. Let’s not be centered on our own comfort but on serving him & others.

#GodsWord–Mark 9:2-13: On the mountain of the transfiguration God assured Jesus that he had not made the wrong decision in accepting the Cross. Let’s also live in the joyful expectation of the day when our bodies will be transformed by the glory of Jesus’ resurrection.

#GodsWord–Matthew 5:38-48: Jesus wants us to trade a blessing for an insult, forgiveness for revenge & kindness for grudges because to return evil for good is devilish; to return good for good is human; but to return good for evil is divine. Let’s follow his example in all we do.

#GodsWord–Mark 9:14-29: A father of an epileptic boy had come seeking Jesus. Since he was on the mountaintop, the father had to deal with the disciples, & his experience of them was discouraging because of their lack of faith. Let’s also pray, "Lord, help my unbelief."

#GodsWord–Mark 9:30-37: As long as the disciples thought that Jesus wasn’t listening, the argument about who should be greatest seemed fair enough; but when stated in his presence, it was seen in all its unworthiness. Let’s also seek greatness in being the last & servants of all.

#GodsWord–Matthew 6:1-6; 16-18:Lent invites us to be honest about our lives & admit that we have fallen short. It is also about replenishing the joy of finding God again & regaining hope in the freshness of a new beginning. Let’s renew our commitment to follow Jesus more closely.

#GodsWord–Luke 9:22-25: If we are to follow Jesus, we must forget ourselves; that is, not treat ourselves as if we were by far the most important thing in the world. Let’s examine our lives & bring to light all that prevents us from existing only for what he wants us to do.

#GodsWord–Matthew 9:14-15:With fasting we make a “declaration of independence” from the hold our consumer culture has on us to regain control not only over our bodies, but over our desires as well. During this Lent let’s also dedicate ourselves more to prayer & works of charity.

#GodsWord–Luke 5:27-32:What's so wonderful about Levi (Matthew) is that surrendering everything to Jesus made him the happiest man in the world. Filled with excitement, he immediately arranged a feast to share the joy of his conversion. Let’s also joyfully follow the Lord’s call.
