Flippable alums get things done! Colorado State Senators Sen. Jessie Danielson, Tammy Story, and @FaithWinterCO passed several bills this week allocating over $300 million for COVID-19 relief, including Sen. Story’s food bank grants and Sen. Winter’s small business loans. #coleg

In a 60-35 vote, the Ohio State House just passed Senate Bill 27 requiring those who have a surgical abortion to bury or cremate fetal remains. The bill will head to the State Senate next week and go to Governor DeWine’s desk if approved. bit.ly/3mMQhwb

Last year, Flippable alum Delegate Rodney T. Willett helped Democrats flip Virginia blue by winning election in one of the six defensive districts we targeted. Now we’re proud to see him named as Virginia’s House of Delegates Freshman Legislator of the Year. Congratulations Del. Willett! 🎉

At a critical time for the provision of Covid relief, not only does our Legislature hold pointless election hearings that spread the virus, it then has to cancel session as a result. It’s irresponsible and selfish. Michiganders deserve better.

The death penalty shouldn’t exist. It’s inhumane, disproportionately affects certain groups of people, can’t be undone if new evidence is revealed, and doesn’t deter crime. I co-sponsored legislation to end it in FL and will do it again. More lawmakers should.

This week saw a big win for the people of Michigan and criminal justice reform. The state Senate passed several bills aimed at ending the criminalization and needless incarceration of people who can’t afford to pay fines related to minor driving offenses. bit.ly/2KhcGU9

#SCOTUS recently declined to hear a case against school policies that recognize trans students’ gender identities. While this is a win, trans youth rights are still under attack in the states as well as the courts, as @chasestrangio points out.

Arizona voters passed Proposition 208 this November, taxing the state’s highest earners to provide revenue for teachers' salaries—currently among the lowest in the nation. But the GOP is ignoring their constituents and suing to undo the measure. #AZleg bit.ly/3gFnNlD

Texas State Rep. and Flippable alum James Talarico is putting students first by providing schools with the funding needed to improve mental-health support. His bill is especially important during a pandemic that is threatening the emotional well-being of so many young people.

Last week, Michigan state lawmakers approved a plan to finance the proposed $600-million-plus payment to partially settle claims between the state and residents of Flint over contaminated drinking water. Now the settlement awaits approval from this judge. bit.ly/3axlsIv
