Last week in maths, Year 1 learnt all about time. First, they explored a clock and identified its different features including the numbers, minute hand and hour hand. Then the children used the clocks to begin to tell the time to hour.

The SLS children made a plant pot made out of clay. We used different methods to mould our clay using wooden clay rollers, pottery sculpting tools and our hands.

Last week, Year 1 have been learning all about instructions in English. They followed each instruction one by one and were able to create some delicious honey and marmalade sandwiches all at the request of one of their favorite story characters, Paddington!

In PSHE, Year 3 have been learning about gender stereotypes and exploring the roles often linked to men and women. They discussed how these ideas can be unfair and talked about how everyone should be free to choose their own path, no matter their gender.

This week, Nursery had their Forest School Graduation to celebrate their last session in our science garden. First, we did a special walk down the runway and got our lovely Forest School certificates. Then, we had some lovely snacks with our Mummies and Daddies.

Last week, Year 1 have been exploring money in maths. They did plenty of hands-on learning to familiarise themselves with the amounts that we have in coins and notes. This helped them to notice the colour, sizes and shape of our money.

Last week the SLS children looked at our teeth and how we can keep them clean and healthy. As well as this we have travelled to Africa! We looked at different animals that live in Africa. To celebrate this we started to make our own giraffe.

Autumn Adventure! 🍂 The children from SLS took their learning outside today to fully engage their senses. We listened to the satisfying crunch of leaves, admired the vibrant autumn colors, and explored the many different textures of nature.

On Thursday afternoon Year 4 children took part in the inspiring Black Heroes of Mathematics – Youth Festival with Herbert Daly. Together they explored the question: “Will my computer survive without maths?”

This week in maths, Year 2 have been learning how to partition numbers up to 100 using their part whole models and diennes. They have done a great job using their place value learning to be successful!

Maths Magic! ✨ Year 5 had a brilliant time at the Black Heroes of Mathematics workshop this week. They discovered how truly fascinating maths is and were captivated by the "magic" and history behind the numbers.

A powerful history lesson! 🔎 Year 6 continued their World Wars learning at the London Docklands Museum. They engaged in a moving workshop about a Blitz survivor and explored the realities of wartime life in the Docklands area.

Get ready for Moana! 🌴 Year 5 is hard at work, rehearsing a fantastic scene from their upcoming show. Mark your calendars for the performance on October 22nd!

Maths & Science Fun! The SLS children were busy with hands-on learning today. In maths, they practiced one-to-one matching by placing lolly sticks in ice cube trays. In science, they became young chemists, learning how to separate items from sand using a sieve.

Geography in Action! 🌍 Year 4 became international traders today! Taking on the roles of different countries, they used their best negotiating skills to swap goods and learn first-hand about how exporting and importing helps countries get what they need.
