Ambassador of @canadalebanon has recently met with male champions of the Male Engagement Toolkit training sessions during her visit to IRC - International Rescue Committee's Women’s Protection & Empowerment Program. The Canada-funded sessions are implemented by LECORVAW, our partner in northern #Lebanon.

Children from #Akkar in northern #Lebanon have recently performed a theatre show for both children and caregivers from their community after attending theatre workshops. These workshops were designed especially for children to help them keep expressing themselves.

Today is #WorldRefugeeDay. Many long to return home. “When I return, I want to visit my grandfather, I miss him so much,” says Tala. She is one of the #Syria-n refugees we helped empower through IRC - International Rescue Committee's psychosocial support sessions in #Lebanon.

Ala’a is the third generation in her family to own a vegetable shop in Lebanon, but economic challenges made it difficult for business. With support from The IRC and Citi Foundation, Ala’a is running a successful business and is able to support her family. Watch her story 💛

"I grew up here in #Beirut, and during the #BeirutBlast, I was at my shop with my neighbor and her husband. After the blast, my shop barely survived. I'm still selling from the old destroyed collection as I can't afford a new one," Renee reveals.

Despite the challenges, Renee and her neighbor, Leila, find strength in each other. They find consolation in the support of Nahla from IRC - International Rescue Committee in #Lebanon. She adds, "We share meals, Leila and I, to save and make ends meet. Nahla is still in touch with us since the blast."

على الرغم من التحديات، تجد رينيه وجارتها ليلى القوة في بعضهما البعض. تجدان العزاء في الدعم الذي تقدمه لهما نهلة من لجنة الإنقاذ الدولية في #لبنان. تضيف رينيه قائلة: "نتشارك أنا وليلى في وجبات الطعام للادخار وتغطية نفقاتنا، ولا تزال نهلة على اتصال بنا منذ حدوث الانفجار."
