A great chance to watch out for how long Alexander's rust takes to arrive. Infection levels are often high causing distortion and with copious orange spores.

My plant of the week RHS Harlow Carr. Fuschia 'Whiteknight Amethyst' with less contrast between its pink sepals and purple corolla than on the more usual Fuschia magellanica.

Heavy infection of the downy mildew Peronospora aparines on Cleavers seedlings. At high densities, host-specific diseases weaken and kill seedlings. This is one way disease promotes diversity in plant communities; species become less competitive as they become denser.

Two different diseases on Ranunculus repens. Leptotrochila ranunculi on the left with yellowing around brown rotting areas and apothecia not restricted to brown areas. Ramularia simplex on the right with veins delimiting black infected areas where sporulation occurs.
