I never understood the complaints that EYES WIDE SHUT was one of Stanley Kubrick's weaker films. It's an utterly hypnotic, nightmarish fantasy about the decay of marriage and the societal masks we wear masquerading as an erotic thriller. It's subversive and utterly brilliant.

It’s been 25 years since Eyes Wide Shut was released! The ending is an all-timer for me & I love that Nicole Kidman got the honor of saying the final word in a Stanley Kubrick film

It’s hard to believe it’s been twenty-five years we lost Stanley Kubrick. His final film remains a fascinating puzzle box of a horror movie that is still as mysterious as it is terrifying. Happy Anniversary to the unforgettable EYES WIDE SHUT.

funny way of being told that we’ve been watching this movie wrong for 25 years

Having watched every digital version available and 35mm at the beverly I can say that I hope this version “pops” more when viewed properly. One of the things I’ve come to love is the bold color in ews and this frankly, is unexciting. Thank you for the deep dive.
