To Patrick Kearon, I would like to speak directly to you. The church fails to protect children and chooses to inflict additional trauma on survivors. Have you read their stories? Members hope you are the leader they’ve been waiting for. I hope so too. Weeping isn’t enough.

I’m fine with members talking about their good experiences in the church and how it makes them happy, but when they start using words like dark and unclean to describe perfectly lovely people, their own kids even, just because they left the church- no.

One of the best things about leaving The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints: I don’t have to be careful about showing too much love and empathy. It’s too often the church that “has been unkind, in many instances crushingly cruel.” Sacrilege to use that pretty scene on an ugly musket fire quote.

Some of the worst things they say are quotes from LDS prophets and apostles. Current leaders turn a blind eye. They will call out a former BYU student for saying *everyone* is loved, important, and not broken, but not the deznats and their hate.
